What is Fire Cupping?

Fire cupping is an ancient form of alternative therapy, it involves placing heated glass cups on the skin which creates a vacuum. The vacuum is created by removing oxygen from the cup via a flame and then the cup is applied to the area that requires treatment. The skin and muscle layer is drawn up into the glass cup and held, glass cups can be placed on the back, arms and legs.

There are not many side effects associated with cupping therapy, you may feel lightheaded or dizzy immediately after the session this should only last a few minutes however is uncommon. After treatment, the skin in and around the rim of the glass cup can be red or bruise, this can last anything from 5 to 14 days. Any cupping marks rarely hurt.
